My paintings start with a pencil sketch followed by layers of watercolor until the saturation and tones are where I want them… and then comes the India Ink. Sometimes I can spend as many hours at this stage as I did in the painting itself.

Rhino Magic
In the heart of the African savanna, where the grass sways gently in the breeze and the stars twinkle like diamonds in the night sky, there lived a rhinoceros named Remy. Remy was no ordinary rhino; he had a magical horn that shimmered in the moonlight, bestowed upon him by a kind-hearted sorcerer long ago.
Remy's horn not only granted him protection but also carried a special power to bring harmony to the world around him. With each step he took, the earth seemed to sigh in contentment, and the air hummed with a peaceful melody.
One clear, moonlit night, Remy decided to take a stroll through the brush beneath the starry sky. As he walked, his massive form moved gracefully, his horn casting a soft glow that illuminated the path before him.
As Remy ambled along, he paused to nibble on some fresh grass, savoring its sweet taste. He knew the importance of maintaining a balanced diet to keep himself healthy and strong. Rhinos, he mused, were herbivores, relying on vegetation for their nourishment.
Continuing his journey, Remy came across a watering hole, its surface reflecting the shimmering stars above. Rhinos, he knew, need water to survive, especially in the hot African climate. With a grateful snort, he lowered his head and took a long drink, the cool liquid soothing his parched throat.
Suddenly, Remy heard a rustling in the bushes nearby. With his keen senses, he detected the presence of a group of young animals huddled together, seeking shelter for the night. With a gentle nudge of his horn, he cleared a path for them, offering them a safe haven beneath the protective canopy of trees.
As the night wore on, Remy continued his journey, his magical horn guiding him through the darkness. Along the way, he encountered various creatures of the savanna, from graceful antelopes to playful monkeys. Each interaction reminded him of the interconnectedness of all living things and the importance of living in harmony with nature.
Finally, as the first light of dawn painted the horizon with hues of gold and pink, Remy returned to his home in the heart of the savanna. With a contented sigh, he settled down for a well-deserved rest, his magical horn glowing softly in the morning light.
And so, the tale of Remy the rhinoceros and his magical horn spread far and wide, a reminder to all who heard it of the beauty and wonder of the natural world and the importance of protecting it for generations to come.
