My paintings start with a pencil sketch followed by layers of watercolor until the saturation and tones are where I want them… and then comes the India Ink. Sometimes I can spend as many hours at this stage as I did in the painting itself.

  • Giclee Fine Art Prints are printed on low texture Hahnemühle Bamboo 290, 100% archival fine art paper. xx

Great Dane

Ah, the majestic Great Dane! They’re like gentle giants wrapped in a sleek, muscular package. Let’s dive into what makes these pups so special.

First off, picture a dog that’s both regal and cuddly, with a towering presence that can make you feel like you’re in the presence of royalty. That’s the Great Dane for you!

Now, let’s talk about their origins. Great Danes have a pretty interesting history. They might look like they were plucked straight out of ancient times, but they actually originated in Germany, where they were bred to hunt wild boar. Can you imagine these gentle giants chasing after boars? It's quite a sight to imagine!

Their ancestors were probably a mix of different breeds, including the Irish Wolfhound and the Mastiff. So you can thank those ancient breeders for creating such a magnificent dog.

Over time, Great Danes evolved from fierce hunters to beloved companions. Nowadays, they’re more likely to be found lounging on the couch or taking leisurely strolls in the park than chasing after boars.

One thing that really stands out about Great Danes is their size. They’re one of the largest dog breeds out there, often towering over other dogs and even some humans when they stand on their hind legs. But despite their imposing stature, they’re known for being gentle giants—friendly, affectionate, and great with kids.

Their short, smooth coats come in a variety of colors, from sleek black to elegant brindle. And those expressive eyes—usually dark and soulful—can melt even the toughest hearts.

So, whether you’re drawn to their striking appearance, their gentle demeanor, or their fascinating history, there’s no denying that Great Danes are truly one-of-a-kind dogs that leave a big impression wherever they go.
